Wendi S. Lazar
Wendi Lazar is the founder and CEO of C-Suite Strategies, LLC., a strategic advisory firm that leverages her 30 years of business and international legal experience to advise executives, founders, businesses, and law firms on compensation, negotiations, complex transactions, and risk management.
Wendi is a top-ranked and award-winning employment law attorney with nearly two decades of experience at the Chambers-ranked law firm Outten & Golden LLP. She focused her practice on complex executive compensation challenges faced by Fortune 500 and private equity management teams, specifically related to M&A, IPO, divestiture, and spin-off transactions.
As a member of her former firm’s Executive Committee, Wendi had board-level fiduciary accountability, encompassing governance, risk, audit, strategic planning, executive compensation, and succession planning. She was instrumental in conceptualizing and shepherding the firm’s long-term growth and digital transformation strategy. Additionally, Wendi helped to overhaul the firm’s successorship model and helped source a new COO and professional management team.
Wendi has been involved in several board and committee roles for organizations advocating for gender and racial equality, including Legal Momentum, The Center for Worklife Law at UC Hastings, and multiple national and international voluntary bar associations. She is a champion of DEI awareness across corporations and the legal profession and has supported, developed, and implemented workplace interventions to change public policy, in addition to leading campaigns to combat sexual harassment in the legal profession. She currently sits on the board of Worklife Law and the International Forum for Senior Executives Association (IFSEA).
As a sought-after speaker, author and media commentator, Wendi has written and edited numerous books and articles on executive compensation, gender issues, and ESG, and participated in leading-edge future of work research on numerous topics including AI and privacy. Her recognitions include a Band 1 ranking for excellence as executive compensation attorney by Chambers & Partners; the 2020 Margaret Brent Award for Achievement and Excellence in the Field of Law; a New York Law Journal Top Women in Law award; an ALM Women in the Law award; a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Law; and listed in Best Lawyers; Super Lawyers; Legal 500; and NY Women Super Lawyers. Wendi also wrote a quarterly column for the New York Law Journal and Reuters entitled “Employees in the Workplace”.
Prior to Outten & Golden, Wendi spent nine years building a boutique law practice focusing on business and employment matters for the media and advertising industry. She was also in the honors program as a trial attorney for the Department of Justice and a film industry executive at NBC News, Orion Pictures, and IPG Films.
Wendi earned her Juris Doctor from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law and her Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College.
